We've Got Mail

yes you guys out there, I am Soumi Mitra. You all know me by now, right? It all began one fine evening. I was enjoying an itsy-bitsy break from hectic examination schedule when the idea of trying out.
something new glanced through my mind. Not able to resist, there and there I took a pen and paper, and
jotted a full end article which I am now sharing with you. I am not saying this merely as a formality but indeed the year 2008 was really happening to me. It is in the year gone by that for the first time I broke the shackles and made so many friends in my life. With them, I really had a blast. I can say that it is also the year I came to explore in depth what college life really means. Starting from bunking
classes, chatting in cafeteria,
hanging around with friends at the Green House and also working in the lab for hours on end to the rare opportunity to attend our colleges very own Bio fiesta, Bio Rujivith. For the first time in my life, I took up a huge responsibility, being in the Hospitality Committee. This gave me an exposure and also a chance to interact with students from other colleges and thus build my self confidence which I feel is one of the most important components to build up a successful career. Bio Rujivith for me was fun and at the same time a learning experience.

A part from having a hell lot of fun, 2008 was a year that presented its fair share of challenges. Never in my life have I been called upon to write three university semester examinations in a single calendar year that too at the post graduate
level.
So fun blended seamlessly with serious academic work. Again side by side, I had to go through the turbulent phase associated with the pangs of growing up as well as the challenges associated with adolescence. But can one be sure if there is any single person on this earth who hasn’t experienced the ups and downs in life? It is when we go through crisis that we discover our inner strength.

We come to know what we can really do in life. The year 2008 will go down as year of remarkable strides that I made in my life. This will also go down as the year I made my debut as a film columnist in our very own magazine, GCC World. It also fetched for me the rare title,Cream of GCC besides making it to the cover of the magazine. It was really one of my biggest accomplishments.

So in short, I can say, the year 2008 was quite remarkable for me as it marked the transformation f an introvert, shy person like me, into a jolly lively peoples’ person. I could not have asked for a better transition than what I have got so far.
This will be the right platform to make the change from the student years to my professional life in 2009. This will be a turning point
in my life but I know with God’s grace, the blessings from my parents, elders and alma mater, I will surely be able to make the best out of the years ahead. Hope all you nice people out there have a blast this year. Together, let’s rock 2009!
