Just a couple of days back,
during one of those laid back
days of mine holed up in my
room watching television, I came
upon this very interesting movie
named “Harriet The Spy”. It
interested me and got my attention
in no time. It was the story of a
little girl named Harriet, who
wanted to be a spy. She wrote all
her findings and experiences in a
little notebook. When her friends
in school found her secret notebook
containing her real thoughts, they
turned against her. What she does
to get things right, and how she
begins with revenge and learns to
forgive and accept, and to make
others accept forms the rest of the
story.
Little Harriet got me thinking.
Not all of us are much sociable
people and there are those who are
shy, introverted and socially
handicapped. It’s easy for many of
us to talk to strangers but for many
others it’s not that easy a task. Yet,
getting to the lesson which Harriet
taught me, we should all learn to
forgive other’s mistakes. It’s not |
and even if you do, you will never
come across the same individual
again. We meet so many people,
and we make friends. But along
with this come various problems
and misunderstandings which
threaten the relationship.
Friendship can be as simple as a
routine way to spend a day or if it
turns complicated can go sour.
The best way to imply this is to
see our own mistakes. We expect to
be forgiven by our parents for
getting less marks in school; we
expect to be forgiven for coming
late to class; we expect to be
forgiven for not turning up at a
friend’s party; and thus we should
also expect ourselves to forgive
others.
One day, a long time back when
I made a silly mistake while learning
a new task, someone told me: Life is
not all about making mistakes; it’s
all about learning from them. From
then on, I never accepted defeat
and kept on trying, and with each
passing day I learnt so many new
things which I earlier thought I |
could not. Potential is present in
every one of us, it’s just that we
need to understand our interests
and keep trying. If we feel we have
not tried enough, well then, you
have a reason for trying better. Try
better to understand people around
you, no matter what they are and
how they are to you. Get to know
why people behave the way they do.
It is you who can change things for
the best in your life, and such trivial
things make you stronger to accept
people and thus forgive them.
Life is too short for learning,
and what is the best lesson than to
forgive? Once you accept forgiveness
as a part of learning, you grow. You
learn to live. You yearn to live. You
can make life easier for yourself and
for others around you. Holding
grudges can only make things
difficult for you and others. So,
forgive, forget and accept. As said,
life is not all about making
mistakes; it’s all about learning
from them
