Ace actress Nandita Das recently

Firaaq based on the aftermaths of
Gujrat communal riots. Although the
film could not manage to attract
people in India, it won critical
acclaims all over the world. The
movie also seems to have won various
prestigious awards in many foreign
film festivals.

myself. It's the only way I can keep

Posing as the “friendly
neighbourhood tax
collector”, Will Smith gives
a heart gripping performance in his
latest movie release, Seven Pounds.
A successful engineer with a
beautiful wife and a seemingly happy
life, Tim Thomas had it all. However,
his life did a summersault when due
to his own negligence, his fiancee and
six others are killed in a road
accident.Frustrated by this loss, Tim
Thomas sets out to change the lives of
seven people. His list of names
includes a blind man, a woman with
heart ailment, his own brother who is
in need of a lung lobe, a child services
|
worker, a hockey coach, a woman
battered by her boyfriend and a small
boy in need of bone marrow.
Pretending to be from the IRS
and doning his brothers identity, this
good samaritan is all but happy. His
mission in life after the death of his
fiancee, is to help these people and
kill himself at the end of it, so that
the donations can be carried out. In
the process, his heart is captured by a
young greeting card printer who has a
heart condition and a rare blood type
that makes it difficult for her to find a
donor. With death knocking at the
door, Ben grows closer to Emily and
falls in love with her. With thi, Ben is
assured of the perfect candidate to
receive the most valuable thing he can
offer.
When his brother finally tracks
him down, Tim, who is actually
posing as Ben is nearing the end of
his mission. Not wanting to give out
any spoilers, this movie is a must see
for all you mushy people who enjoy a |

nice romantic movie with a some
social service thrown in.
It is an introspective on life. How
life doesn’t go the way we want it to,
how countless dreams are left
unfulfilled because of the lack of
time. The helplessness someone feels
when that person is told that his or
her time is limited. This movie
captures those moments.
The movie is exceptional, as with
most of Will Smith’s films. He
renders a fabulous and powerful
performance and this movie especially
tugs at your heart strings when the
audience is introduced to the pain of
the main character and the selfless
deeds he sets out to commit. There is
a lot of creativity and flash back
technique is used which is a personal
favourite of mine. It’s a movie that
makes you want to sit back and think
about how short life is and how we
should taste and sense the beauty of
it, while living it.
What I found most interesting
and kept me glued to the movie was
the mysterious and rather secretive
nature of the main character. He
doesn’t show his emotions to the
exterior and seems to be an introvert
in nature. Will Smith has been able
to bring those qualities out
successfully.
Personally I loved the movie.
Maybe I’m a bit biased towards Will
Smith movies because I sense a
uniqueness in how he portrays his
characters in the assigned roles, and
the creative way the plot unfolds, but
Seven Pounds in my opinion, is a
must see for all
