The Style Warz 2008, the glorious fashion event in search for new talent of Tdesigners across the country was held in the premises of Garden City College recently and was
judged by a range of famous and successful designers and models from the show biz.
Various teams participated in the glorious event, which brought in great acclaim and surprise as to the amount of talent generated by the budding youngsters. Ramaiah College, Army Institute of Fashion Technology, Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, Garden City College and Professional Designers of Bangalore were among some of the active participants who resided over the event.
The judges who were present in the event were the much acclaimed Mr. Jigar, In – House Dance Trainer and Choreographer of GCC Roll 4 Soul, Mr. Mayank Yadav, the assistant of Designer Rocky S, Nitish Chandra, an alumnus of GCC and successful designer, and our very own Paljor Gyabak, an alumnus of GCC and Mr. Elegant of Gladrags 2006.
The opening ceremony was celebrated with all pomp and zeal, and was inaugurated by Mr. K C John, Principal, Garden City College along with the other judges. The event was sponsored by Body Shop and Club NC.
The phenomenal day featuring style was held at Garden City College, which included 10 participating teams. It was a fashion event whose motive was the search for young designers from all over India, judged by celebrity designers and models. The team of 14 young upcoming idols was led by Sounava Das (5th Semester, B.Sc Fashion
And Apparel Design) as the designer and Abhirup Biswas (5th Semester B.Sc Biotechnology) as the horeographer, who stole the glorious show.
Various colleges presented their talents with their immense talent and innovation. There were a variety of themes brought out through the event. Army Institute put on show their innovative show with their theme ‘Black’ and also had an interesting theme on ‘Bare Body’. On the other hand, Ramaiah College put up a show with a common casual theme based on ‘College Days’. The designer round saw some interesting ideas on Ballet, Romance, and Love.
Another appealing concept was that of men posing as statues, where the women came in to put life into them and finished of f with women turning into effigies. But in the end, the show stealers were truly the stars of Garden City College.
The first round of events which took place was one which portrayed the theme of Underbelly by the GCC team. The theme depicted the dark side of India, of prostitution, corruption and political problems. The talented choreographer Abhirup Biswas portrayed all this on the ramp beautifully with the help of the promising designer
