The grounds look so beautiful. Certainly, we don't need more than a basketball court or football ground to play or win tournaments. Even then, there are a few things we need to keep in mind

t is official. After a very long wait on campus, sports at GCC is all set. The craving for sporting I ting amenities on campus can be gauged by the fact that a large number of students often return back to campus in their sports gear after college hours.

Earlier, they had to endure arduous trek in their quest for sports amenities. Today, they just have to come back to college and get sporty with it. I am so glad to have witnessed the tremendous improvement in the sports domain. The grounds look so beautiful. Certainly, we don't need more than a basketball court or football ground to play or win tournaments. Even then, there are a few things we need to keep in mind considering the location of the basketball court. The fact that it has been put up right inside the college does not mean that students can play the game anytime they so wish. Heard that dear readers? It is surprising that some students demand to play even when classes are going on. These overenthusiastic students have often got into problem with the security staff and many of them are often heard lamenting that it is not fair to be denied the chance to play. Come on people, there is a right time to do the right things.

Trouble seekers aside, there is a palpable joy in the football camps because of the newly leveled ground. The students have expressed their gratitude by attending football practices regularly. However, the football ground should be used with caution because it is so new and sometimes can be uncomfortable to play on. As you play, you seek divine intervention not to fall because you can be sure of getting a few bruises. The volley ball players are also excited because they too have their own court. The beginning has been made but we all must understand there is still some work to be done.

However, now that the sports grounds are on their way to perfection and considering the numerous students (foreign and local) who are so talented, different teams end up with many players who are so good and want to play. That is the problem both the basketball and football teams are facing.

Recently, the foreign students forwarded their request to make two teams. They were given a go ahead and had their names printed on the college jerseys. When the two teams trained separately for AGON Sports tournament, the second team was turned away at the last minute. But that was an advantage in disguise because the two joined together and formed a
formidable team. However, this came with its own disadvantage as other equally good players had to watch from the touchlines.

It was perfect timing for the AGON Sports tournament to grace the 'Grand Launch of the sports grounds. The home teams did well but I must say that the football players looked very smart in their new jerseys which had their names at the back. They also showed their gratitude by reaching the finals.

Finally, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Dr. Joseph V.G, Chairman, Garden
City Group of Institutions for developing sports in GCC and also make a call to the students to participate fully as well as respect the sports grounds. I do hope we can do the right things, at the right time and in the right place.
