Dear Readers,

I was thinking if there was to be a mantra for last year it surely has to be KILL. Yes. That is the mantra - Kill. Unlike my other editorials, I will keep this editorial within readable limits. No - not because that I have suddenly lost the fervour to write. But on the contrary, I had so much to write on this topic. I am doing this deliberately so that it hits people right on their face. Like icy cold water while in deep slumber. Everyone is killing.

What if the Arabs refuse to part with their oil? Kill them and get that.
What if a girl in Delhi turns down sexual overtures? Just rape her and kill her.
What if birds come in the way of aircrafts? Simply kill them and let the flights take off in peace.

Kill, kill, kill... the world just seems to killing everyone and everything.
Some kill for money; some for lust. Some kill for eminence; some for infamy. Some kill for revenge; some for fun. Some who kill are insane; and others fake sanity - for I firmly believe that those who kill can NEVER be sane! Terrorists are killing thousands in the name of religion and region - and there is just no stopping them. Moninder Singhs are killing hordes of children in the name of lust. The US army is killing millions in the Middle East in the name of protection. The ULFA are killing non-Assamese in the name of regionalism. The celebrities are killing animals for fun. The Sorens of politics are killing to hide their corrupt deeds. The police are killing innocent citizens in the name of encounters of dreaded criminals. Then there is a bunch of eleven jokers who are killing a sport which is religion in our country. And then there are people who are killing the simple joys in life. Some are killing prime time with tearjerkers; some are killing theatrical revenue through piracy. Some are killing creativity through plagiarism; some are killing mind space through clutter. Some are killing trust through infidelity; some are killing culture and values in the name of Westernization. Some are killing leisure by finishing up pending work while some are killing work-hours by gossiping and playing online games. Some are killing the boundaries by calling the world one global village; while some are creating boundaries through racial abuse. To kill or to kill more, that is the question. Give it a thought my friends. Are we in a world of civilized people or we ourselves uncivilized race?
