CAMPUSJOTTINGS

Holidays! Holidays! Holidays! These words might seem very fascinating to some students – the time they pack themselves up and dash home for a well earned break from college. How they utilize their time during the vacation is not an issue for them. But for others, it might be just another week or month spent away from home as the case of the hostel students staying back on campus. Even though their thoughtsmay be on their loved ones at home, circumstances beyond their control lead them to pursue other occupations.

Like Rimzin Arora of 1st Semester (MBA). “My exams are coming up and I am sure there will be a lot of
distractions at home-my siblings and everyone around. The atmosphere is not conducive for studies at
all,” he reflects

Pamela of Biotech rues the fact that her exams were postponed on two occasions after painstakingly waiting for a break to be back home. “Canceling my ticket twice was okay but not for the third time. I made up my mind and dropped the idea of going back home and I will be around.”

Jaideep Banerjee of 1st Semester (MBA) who has a passion for traveling and tours insists the break is the
best time to spend visiting place. “It’s better to add to our treasure of knowledge because we end up wasting a lot of time traveling home. “Everything should be done in an organized way,” he advices.

Sonali Desai of 3rd Semester BA (Journalism) who was home for the Diwali vacations believes the she now
has the best opportunity to do something meaningful in life. “I had planned to do my internship and this vacation was the best time with less of studies to think about before I resume classes. To me, my career is of prime importance,” she emphasizes. So too believes Litty of 3rd Semester B.Sc. (Genetics). ‘For us Christmas is the main event in the family ’s calendar and I got the opportunity to be home at that time. Since I had a dance performance during the New Year celebrations, I was not keen on going back,” she explains

Ashok Shah of 3rd Semester BA (Journalism) falls in the category of those who believe‘quantity of vacation
and quality of work’ go hand in hand and so opted to stay back. “Coming from Nepal, short term vacations don’t make any meaning.” So, still planning to go home during the next vacations? For those who may not get the chance to make it back home for vacations, they could well cover up for the empty nest. One can do a lot of creative things duringvacations by using the time in a judicious way.
