“You are up there with the very best in the world,” he said. As the audience warmed up to the radio, it was the inspiring voice of the brain behind the endeavor. And there was the camp fire spectacularly put to life from atopthe college building amidst the bursting of crackers and fireworks to herald the dawn of a new beginning, the New Year 2007.

Prior to going on air, Campus Radio 99.9% witnessed a flurry of activities with the hard work of motley crew of emerging talents reaping rich dividends. According to Chairman, Dr. JosephV.G. Campus Radio is a unique venture that will be exclusive to the students at the campus to try theirhand in Radio Jockeying. “We are looking at giving opportunities and identifying at least 10 RJs daily. They will have a free hand in hosting shows in a language the students relate to- it’s yours,” he said emphasizing on the opportunities the medium offers. Students will showcase their talent as RJs, imbibe work ethics, educate, entertain and unwindafter a day’s hard grind on campus.

allowed us to tune to at the launch.

A new chapter unfolds in GCC. Now you know there is more to campus life than just studies.Campus Radio gives the students the opportunity to test their skills and for the listeners, a chance to tune in to the latest information and hits. The students will also be exposed to the technical aspects of radio. Not surprising, the route to the airwaves has already got many takers.

TALKING RADIO

  A lot of things go into achieving success. The best thing about Campus Radio is the bonding as a team and the pleasures one derives from teamwork. GCC World caught up with the RJs at the studio and returned charmed by the skills on show.

Shailaja Samant of the first year B.Sc. (Biotechnology) batch is elated. This is the age of learning,” she gushes. “Being on Campus Radio is a part of the learning process. The tag RJ becomes more appreciable because it comes with hard work, devotion and dedication. Certainly it feels good.” Shailaja is your wake up girl on Campus Radio and hosts the show Rise and Shine. An interesting feature here will be the time devoted for birthday wishes and the goodies for those celebrating their birthdays.
