As the clock took the right angle to showcase the time, 9pm to be precise, Prof. Pious Thomas rose to welcome the gathering at the GCC New Year fete. Those in attendance got into action with ‘E’ for enjoyment and ‘E’ for entertainment. To put this into action, ‘G’ for games were organized – Interaction, Blind mom and Dumb Charades, where students participated with remarkable spontaneity.

Fun they had and when it came to testing their knowledge, there was no dearth of enthusiasm with the students keen to attract the attention of Mr. Rajat of GCC Queens Academy of English, the host of the Quiz. To fire on the party and blast the stage, a couple of talented performers took to the stage for the cultural events. Dazzling looks, swanky body movements and the beats just proved to be the right mix to create the right atmosphere.

Talking of parties, without the bands and acoustics, things don’t go well, right? Well, we did have singers who entertained the gathering with their mesmerizing voices to keep everyone charged on a cool winter night just before the guests took their places.

The guest list had Sri A R K Menon, President- School Managing Committee Deva Matha EducationalSociety and Mr. Krishnan Menon, incidentally his son and the CEO- of Phenomenon, a US based firm. Mr. Krishnan is considered to be ‘one of the best brains’ in consumer marketing. Accompanying them to the stage was our beloved chairman, Dr. Joseph V.G.

What followed was the release of the December 2006 edition of GCC World magazine by Shri Menon. The guest had words of encouragement for the folks gathered to celebrate the New Year at the campus.

Addressing the guests and the students, it was inspiring to learn that the Chairman had turned down invitations that came knocking at his doorsteps to be with the students. “You trust me and I will trust you” he said as the audience met everyword with cheers.

According to the Chairman, his dream for the New Year remains the quest to complete the expansion plans for the campus to give students more space and facilities to pursue their dreams.

The dark night looked ominous when the lights were suddently switched off and the ‘ooh…and aah!’ sound
effects in the crowd gave rise to curiosity before the countdown began 11:56, 11.57, 11.58, 11.59, and finally 00:00. The joy in the face of the Chairman said it all. Happy New Year-2007! The cake cutting ceremony watered the taste buds of those in attendance and oath taking by the students before the Chairman encapsulated the dreams and aspirations of every Gardenian. Another year with hopes of a bright future!
