Speaking on the occasion he said, “Today is the birthday of a man who dedicated his entire life to eradicate one of man's greatest enemy, poverty. The college has achieved a great degree of success in the past few years. If the college has made an explosive entry in the arena of education the alumni of the college are among one of the biggest reasons who never tire of speaking about their ammeter to the world.”

Dr Coutinho too gave the chairperson his best wishes on his birthday calling hime the epitome of success. He termed the entire occasion, “an experience of prayer and celebration.” He also informed the gathering about the GCC Law College that is in the pipeline and expressed that with his vision and support from his colleagues, Dr. Joseph is sure to make this dream come true of making it an internationally acclaimed institution.

The event also witnessed the felicitation of Dr Reverend Fr. Paul Puthanangady by Dr. Joseph, the Chairman, GCC Group of Institutions. The warm-hearted teacher shared his valuable insight, “God is living where living beings are staying. I think God is here because we all are experiencing him together. This is the meaning of the celebrations today.” Reflecting on the chairperson he said, “In my opinion Dr Joseph is a sign of blessing of God on this campus. He has succeeded in transforming this place from wilderness to a place filled with life where several flowers are blooming together.”

The members of the GCC Alumni Association were also felicitated on the occasion. The incoming officials took oath and pledged to remain faithful to their Alma mater no matter where they are in the world. The Alumni of the institution Mr. Manu Chandran, Mr. Abhijeet Mankotia and Mr. Amit Peters released the June Issue of GCC World, the in house publication of college on the occasion while Mr. Vishnu a former Gardenian from the Department of Journalism launched the Wi-Fi and the new portal of GCC (www.lifegcc.com). Also released on the occasion was Repertoire, a collection of GCC World from the last Reunion fete.

The chairperson in his Presidential speech appreciated the way in which the alumni of the institution are spreading the name of their former institution far and wide. The mentor and guide of Garden City Group of Institutions said: “It has always been my endeavour to give the best to my students and I am trying my best to do the same. This is the day of our former students. Till now in India we say, Athithi Devo Bhava, today I would like to start a new tradition by saying, Shishya Devo Bhava.” The chairperson also acknowledged the contributions of the various people who have supported him in his endeavour to make.

GCC and its sister institutions endure a respected name in the arena of education. The cultural performances by various groups from GCC as well as Capitol College added colour to the celebrations and made the evening memorable for all present. While the GCC Roll '4' Soul group electrified the evening with their Salsa moves, the Daffodils and Twinkling Stars comprising B.Sc. Nursing students of the college thrilled the audience with their performance of some feet tapping Hindi numbers.

Equally impressive was the performance of the Bhutanese students who are undergoing training at the Department of Hotel of Management at GCC to showcased their culture through the Bhutanese dance forms. Another performance that energized the audience was bhangra by Jaspinder and group, students of B.Sc. Nursing.
