Campus Kudos

There are numerous phases in the life of a person, which shape his or her being ultimately. The educational institutions that we attend are most important of these without any doubt. They leave us with experiences that manifest themselves in our personality throughout our lives. It is a source of great joy and pride when after making it in life people get a chance to visit their Alma mater. Reunion 2007 was one such occasion when the ex Gardenians visited their beloved college and got a chance to loose themselves in its various hues.

June 18 became a special day for them. Mélange of emotions played across the faces of the alumni as they remembered the bygone days. Reminisced Mr. Amit Peters, a member of GCC Alumni Association:

Those were the best days of my life. I still remember the way we used to have fun on the campus with friends. I really miss those days.”

What makes the alumni to take out time from their busy schedules and come down to the campus? There are several reasons cited by the alumni. Says Mr. Abhijeet Mankotia who has worked with Accenture and is currently pursuing an MBA degree at ICFAI, Bangalore: “When I was a student of this college I developed very good relations with several of my teachers as well the Chairperson. The bondage that I made then still exists. This is a chance for me to visit all of them and also the campus.” If bondage with the staff of college is the reason for Mr. Abhijeet, for several others it is a chance to meet old friends and share an evening with them. Quips Mr. Sunil Pandey who has done his MCA from GCC and is currently working with Fidelity: “Everyone is busy these days and there is hardly any time to meet anyone. But on this day we get to see so many friends.” Siddharth Dubey is of the same opinion. “I met so many of my friends today whom I was not meeting for such a long time”, says he.

For Ms. Neha Hazra who is at present employed at Oracle it is all about the experience that is involved. Chirps the bubbly ex -Gardenian: “It is fun to be back on the campus. I had a fine time though I arrived a bit late and missed some of the parts.” Their comments can be taken as very true when one considers the huddles of old friends chatting and enjoying throughout the campus.

But there are several others who cannot make it to the reunion. One of the reasons they being at far places. Also some of them do not get the information on time. As points out Mr. Abhijeet: “Often the invitations for the event are sent at the base addresses of the ex students. Most of them have left their bases and are working at different places. This results in delay in getting information.” Busy office schedules are another reason responsible for keeping the alumni away from the campus on this special day.
