The trilogy was said to be a huge success financially. The films were acclaimed for thirty academy awards of which they won 17.The Return of the King won eleven awards in every category it was nominated on.

The plot is set in the Middle East. The three films revolve round the character of Horbit Frado Baggins. He and a fellowship are entrusted with a destruction of ring that will lead to the death of Lord Sauron.Frado is left alone in the middle of his journey. He continues with two loyal people Sam and Gollum. The quest of the destruction of the ring is carried on. The story also revolves around the wizard Gandaly who should unite with the people of the Middle East. This is supposed to happen in the war of the ring.

After setting the cinema box office records around the world, Lord of the Rings took on a musical show. Indian composer A.R. Rahman was one of the stars to premier that night for musical. Rahman produced the musical score for 12.5 pounds. It was a three hour musical show. Rahman hailed by the Time Magazine as the Mozart of Madras, received laurels from critics. Some called it brilliant and some called it flop. The musical world is however not new to Rahman who has sold more than hundred million albums of his work comprising music from over 50 movies.

The trilogy has been successful enough in bringing the audience to applaude the work of the people behind and on the screen. The incredible technology genius of the film has made the film truly epic. The make up artists seem to have done the major work. After Harry Potter it is LOR that took to the fantasies of the children. The effort carries great pain and enigma which is brought alive in the making of the film. One must watch them for all good reasons.
