Teachers’ Day… A day of celebration
Tfor those special souls who are our guides, our mentors… They are
those who nurture our future. They are
those extraordinary people who have been
a channel to the students, to the outsideworld of knowledge.
The age old tradition of Gurukul followed in
a diverse nation like India has evolved to
make its students the successful future of
tomorrow. The role of
teachers in our lives has
forever been
enormous. They are
those unique
personalities with
whom we share
our lives. The days
of our learning life
are the most
important
nurturing periods in our life. And what is
better than to reward them with our love on
this special day? Wishing all our teachers a
very happy teachers’ day…
Teacher appreciation is a feeling
expressed worldwide, because teachers
are that special part of the communityhelping us all to grow up and be better
citizens. This is why most countries
celebrate either the World Teachers’ Day or
their own national equivalents.
This day teachers become the point of
attraction – obviously it’s their day. Lots
of merry making activities are
celebrated in most schools and
colleges across the country.
However, this day is not only a
commemoration of national teacher’s
day in India – it’s also the birth date of
the country’s former president Dr.
Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. This is also
the reason why the celebration is very
significant in our country. Today, the
national teachers’ day celebration is also
fully supported by one and all across
the country.
We believe that teachers
play a key role in every
individual’s development and
evolution. Showing
appreciation to them is
therefore a fair reward
and an act of gratitude
that will also make you
feel better. That was
what happened on this
special occasion in
Garden City College.
The day dawned
bright and sunny with
all pomp and zeal. The
enthusiasm of thestudents to put up their best
show for their teachers was
seen. It was time for them to
show their gratitude and
affection. The day witnessed the
students from various
departments entering the
campus with all cheer and loads
of surprises. Cakes, gifts,
balloons, ribbons, cards and
more– it was just a day to be
joyous and to cherish forever.
The teachers too were at their
best, dressed gracefully with a
special tint and glow that the day
would bring.
Soon the students were busy
in engaging themselves to
decorate their classrooms and
the invitations to the teachers,
with colorful sparking cards and
smiles followed.
The anxiety of
the students was seen in the air.
The day went on with all fervor
and the teachers seemed to
have a great time. There were
various performances put up by
the students including song and
dance sequences. Drinks and
chocolates were passed aroundand the smiles never left the
faces. The most awaited part –
the cake cutting was held and
the gifts were presented to the
lovely teachers. The show was
heartwarming and went on to be
a great success, simultaneously
held by the students of the
various departments. The
traditional giving of love cards to
their favourite teachers were
also conducted by various
students.
Post lunch, the enthusiasm
shifted to the auditorium block,
where the teachers filled in for
the special programs scheduled
for the evening. Roll ‘4’ Soul put
up their best performances and
was appreciated by all those
who were present for their
dynamic energy and dedication The function was presided by
our beloved mentor, guide and
the visionary educationist, Dr
Joseph V G., Chairman of
Garden City College. The
program took an interesting turn
when our beloved chairman,
acknowledged all our teachers
with souvenirs.
One of the memorable highlights
during the program was the
awarding of outstanding
teachers according to their
contribution in their field of
expertise. The recognition
included expertise in various
specialized fields. The event
saw the felicitation of seven
