Jessie told her background and narrated the life she led before she met
Stalin which brought them closer to each other. Stalin somehow felt like

Stalin leaned against the wall and closed his eyes for a minute; he then Sstood up and walked to the littlestood up and walked to the little pot where the two stored drinking water. He took a glass of water and sipped it twice before he re-energized himself by sprinkling water from the same glass on his face. His eyes were red and his face appeared pale. Jessie immediately got up and went near him. She caringly put her hand on his shoulder and asked: “Are you okay?” Stalin raised his hand and walked to the corner of their small hut and sat down. “Will you believe me if I tell you that I am a Doctor?

” said Stalin and looked at her. Jessie was shocked. “What!” Are you keeping a track of your words?” exclaimed Jessie with wide eyes as she came near him and sat down. Stalin smiled: “I am sorry Jessie. By the way, I am Dr. Stalin Denver.” “Are you crazy man, you say you are a doctor and now you say sorry? What is this? ” asked Jessie bewildered. “Now, I am here to make you understand, right? There was a motive behind hiding my identity. I was not in a position to disclose my designation. I’ll definitely tell you the reason,” said Stalin.Jessie looked at him out of curiosity. She was impatient to know the reality behind this man who steals to earn his livelihood and claims him self to be a doctor. “That was the day we met in the lake park, I would proudly call myself a doctor from that very day, if things were right You know that was the last day of the final year medical examination. I was so happy, I had reached the goal of my life,” Stalin paused. “Before telling you about that day, let me first tell you about the reason for the arrival of that particular kind of day in my life,” said Stalin. “Stalin, be clear, I am not able to understand,” said Jessie. Stalin smiled again and continued.
“Well, it was my childhood dream to become a doctor and I still remember that day, it was a mixed feeling. I could have
shouted with joy when it was confirmed that I had got a seat in the medical college, because I had touched the feet of my
dream and the throne wasn’t really far. On the other hand, I was sad to leave my family because I had chosen a college
far away from home. Anyway, the deed had been done. I had to leave. So the day came and I hadprepared myself to be happy in the college. The college was a reputed one and I was looking forward to experience hostel life. Our car hit the high way with dad at the wheels. My mom and my sister had also accompanied me to see my college and the place I would live in for the next five years.

As we reached the college’s entrance, I was amazed. It was a wonderful place, and we passed through a big arch above us that read: “Welcome to St. Lee Dental and Medical College.” My heart beat raced.
This was the place to spend another five years grooming my medical skills. Well, the campus was good and my hostel seemed pleasant too. As I had prepared my mind only with positive thoughts, everything appeared to be satisfying. I dumped my things in the hostel room and went to say good bye to my parents. I was feeling too lonely and lost, in fact I could also witness tears in my father’s eyes which I seldom saw. Still my dad called me near him and took me by my shoulder: “Son, your life starts exactly from here and from this very moment. Practice education like religion. No matter where you are, rememberthat you belong to a respectable family and your deeds will reflect on our status. This is a platform to exhibit the traditions and the culture you have learnt so far.

I know diversions are common at your age, but you can fight those diversions because you are a human being and not an animal which cannot control its feelings. Every penny you spend must have a genuine reason and every word you talk must be sensible, the way you dress, walk and behave. Just about everything you do should earn you a positive image. Believe in long term investments. With regard to hard work, money or feelings, these will always yield you the best. I’ll be waiting to receive you back home after five years. If you come back as a successful doctor I’ll be proud to welcome you back and bestow on you my praise and appreciation. If you are not a successful doctor you can still come back and be loved by us just as usual.

All I want you to be is to be yourself. You first become Stalin and then a doctor or what ever. Be sure that whatever you do or say should be good and beurself, your family, your friends, your country and of course the whole world, ” instructed Dad and smiled with his eyes filled with tears. “I wish you the best of luck.” A brief chat with my mom and my sister followed and soon they were strolling to the parking lot. One last wave and off they went leaving me behind. I went back to the hostel holding my tennis racket playing some imaginary shots. My room was shared by two other guys. One was a senior from the third year class and another one was a fresher just like me. I introduced myself andby the time I was unpacking at night, the tradition of ragging started and the worst days of my life began. A stury looking guy, along with six others came into my room. It was about nine in the night. I was very much disturbed by the way they were behaving. A guy sat on the table and the other one on my suitcase.

Another one started exploring my sports kit and there was a foul smell in the room because almost everyone was drunk, some of them were smoking as well. “Hey guys, you know ragging is a punishable offence according to the Supreme Court,” said one of those guys. “So we won’t rag you, let us get introduced and have a party here tonight. Okay?
” He said looking at Sanjay, my room mate who was a fresher too. Sanjay was relieved at this very idea and he smiled at the guy and said “Sure Sir, I am Sanjay” “And you?” asked another guy looking at me. “I’m Stalin,” I said. “Well so catch this,” he said and threw a bottle of rum towards me. I caught it and saw him disapprovingly.

“Good catch dude! Well, its simple, drink this exactly in 10 minutes, in one shot, you should not put the bottle down. Here we go, open it and start. Your time starts now,” said the sturdy looking senior. I was so scared. Never in my life had I even seen such a kind of bottle and how could I even drink that nasty smelling liquid. I had to speak. I gained courage
and said: “Sir please, I am not used to such things. I’ve never tasted these things and I don’t want to get into such addictions. Don’t force me. Am sorry, I can’t do that.”
