PG Graduation Day
  The Post Graduate students' Passing Out parade at Garden City College portrayed pictures of blissful existence with girls in their fabulous and vibrant shades of saris and boys in white shirts and ties. Strolling on the campus, many faces turned for a glance and their eye catching appearance left many in awe, reports Krittika Khosla and Sonali. S. Desai. But their outward cheerfulness and smiles hid tears beneath that threatened to explode considering this were their last days on campus as students. After rising from the dawn of emotions thinking about the imminent departures, we noticed the Chief Guests accompanied by Dr. Joseph. V.G., Chairman, Garden City Group of Institutions hoisting the GCC flag. The guests then proceeded to the Convocation Hall and so did the students. The honorable Chief Guests, Prof. V B Coutinho, Former Vice Chancellor, Gulbarga University and Shri Sanjay Vir Singh, IPS and Registrar, Bangalore University, consented to mark the event. Education is primarily the stepping stone to success leading to the molding of human character. GCC underlined the essence of Graduation for the post graduation students. A very important moment in a student's life, departing from college to launch their ship into the sea, to mark their successful career is all that graduation is all about. GCC choir enlivened the event with their rendition of the welcome song. The recitation of verses from the Bhagwad Gita, the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible gave meaning to 'secularism' in a country like India. Shri Sanjay Vir Singh also released the college monthly magazine, GCC World to mark the auspicious occasion.

The event then saw the conferment of the certificates and mementoes by the Guest of Honor. "We rejoice with you, it is your day. You have worked hard to reach this position and this function is a symbol of completion of your course. Life is going to be different from now on to you all and face it bravely," said Prof. Coutinho as he gave his valuable insights. He then added, "Mere degree is no education, you know what oath you have taken, what you have promised today that you will help yourself build up own personality. There is nothing like character so preserve it and act nobly like good people do."

Shri Sanjay Vir Singh said, "For every fundamental right there is a fundamental duty" and then he added, "Times have changed when it comes to opportunity as there are a number of degrees today." Focusing on Banglore he said, "It is a great city and extremely hospitable." Then he quotes, "The difference between success and failure is that little extra effort.

A moment that is something likes "We are ready for the war." The convocation hall portrayed a picture of a battlefield and the warriors seated for the fight the life was going to throw the tough-rough professional world. All mixed emotions were intact be it happiness or sad to leave the college. It was indeed a memorable moment for one and every student who graduated this evening. To Akansha of Master of Science of Biotechnology, Graduation day was touching and very emotional and now that she is no more a collegiate makes her feel different. "One phase of life wraps and unfolds to the tough world." She adds "Make best use of the facilities provided by the college and work hard" advises Betsy from Master of Science of Biotechnology. Mohd. Nazeem Ashraf from Biotechnology happens to have influenced a lot from the college as he says: "Studying in Garden City College I have learnt to be disciplined and what I would advice is take up what you want to, just go for it." All that put an end to this graduation day was warm hugs and wet eyes that did drop a tear with a hope that they would sometime hit their friends coincidentally in the crowded roads of life.
