  You have your annual flu shoot, frequently wash your hands and get plenty of rest to avoid getting a cold or the flu. But don't forget one of the most important strategies- your food choices!

Mother Nature has provided us with many wonderful foods that can help us achieve a healthy lifestyle balance. In the rush to achieve our daily goals, little time is devoted towards making or choosing healthy foods.

Instead we gravitate towards of fast food with little or no nutrients and junk food, full of empty calories. Certain foods help your body marshal its defense system to prevent sickness here is how:

1. Yoghurt: - The active acidophilus culture found in yogurt promotes a strong digestive system.
2. Garlic: - It contains selenium which can increase the immunity cells we have.

In addition, they contain high level of antioxidant that protects the body from diseases caused by free radicals. Some of these foods include strawberries, dried kidney beams, cranberries apples, pecans and artichokes. Substituting green tea for coffee is also an option.
Balancing one's diet to make it the proper mix for each of us individually is a challenge. Most of all, it will at least give us all a start towards better health and a good immune system.
