Dedication, hard work and commitment are the three mantras that S.M. Hasan Munzoor, the young and
prominent final year student of Bio Technology exudes. Born in Hyderabad and settled in
Bangalore, Hasan has set his sights on a career in the field of Biotechnology but would love to
be a successful RJ in any leading Radio Station. Having been an active participant in almost
every activity in and around GCC, this youngster has brought many laurels not only to himself but
the college. In the midst of his varied responsibilities, GCC World had the pleasure to chat with
him and sure he is living his dreams, literally.
1. Tell us about your school life?
My school life was interesting. I was very naughty in school and would be punished for the
mischief. I was so notorious that every time something went wrong, my name would be the first to
be mentioned. But I have sobered down a lot in college where I have been the complete opposite.
As a rebel in school, still recall the days I was punished and still laugh over it.
2. As a Biotechnology student, how did you develop an interest in Radio Jockeying?
Well, I should say it all started with fresher's day. That was the first time I went on stage. I
was competing in a speaking cum math competition and was pitted against three BCA students. I won
the contest. I guess that's how I developed confidence.
3. Tell us about your experiences as a Radio Jockey?
It has been an amazing experience. Radio Jockeying is about understanding different people and
connecting with them and we have all kinds of them in the society. As an RJ, you must be ready to
cater to diverse audiences. I think this is one job that provides a platform to understand the
community.
4. What are the qualities of a Radio Jockey?
It is a lot about how you communicate. It's not about using long complex words but about using
simple words which the listener can understand. We have to air programmes that will reach the
public. One advice that I would like to give the up coming RJs are be yourself do not copy
others. Be confident.
5. Your experiences in college?
(Smiles) I am grateful to this college for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talents. I
have performed a lot on stage but in my final year I even danced. GCC has provided me the
platform to learn and groom myself for the next phase in life. I have had great time here since I
joined college. I have met amazing people from different cultural backgrounds and from diverse
parts of the world that has helped me develop a broad outlook to life.
6. What is your motto in life?
There are many but one among them is, 'With great power come great responsibilities'. I have been
following
this motto ever since I saw the movie Spiderman. This has helped me a lot to groom myself into
what I am today but the one that has kept me up and running since childhood has been 'Survival of
the Fittest.'
7. Most memorable occasion on campus?
There have been many instances but one that immediately comes to mind is during Gardenia 2007. I
had taken charge of the final day's event and when the show came to an, I got a standing ovation
from the audience. The compliments I received from the lecturers spoke volumes of my work. Since
this was my last event, I felt on top of the world.
8. Advice to Gardenians
Whatever you gain, success is not materialistic. You get satisfaction from within and that is
when you gain success.
