Gardenia 2007 was probably the most awaited event of the year for
majority of the first year students at the GCC campus. Having spent a
better chunk of their first few months on the campus listening to the
seniors was eloquent about this inter-collegiate event, the average
fresher had very high hopes and expectations from what was promised to
be a feast for the senses.
And as it turned out, for the five days that the event was spread out,
the mornings looked a trifle drab but once the events got underway,
there were lots of happening to rave about. The outfits set the tone.
Gardenians looked resplendent in their attire. The hospitality
committee did a great job but it was the decoration committee that took
the cake for their excellent work. Adding to the fun was Campus Radio
which provided entertainment throughout the fest and everyone was tuned
though they could have done better carrying more English tunes
through the airwaves.
The evenings were definitely more gala and a fun-filled affair with
most of the students at the college being active participants. A lot of
dressing up was witnessed and many girls change their outfits during
the day. The college also displayed its penchant for fashion show with
virtually every department putting up a segment in which the students
used to the hilt to shuttle down the ramp. The dances too were
overwhelming with every department belting out a tune or two of the
latest numbers.
Obviously there were some shortcomings with the Bangalore bandh coming
in the way of the extravaganza but students did have great time.
The good news is that the younger batch has vowed to make next year's
festival a memorable one. They have
also decided to take active part in the events at the college to make
their stay a worthwhile one.
To sum up, Gardenia 2007, a fun event started the semester beautifully
and has given birth to the feeling of loyalty and love for the college
and all that it stands for.
