He shared some of his thoughts during the conduct of Gardenia 2007 as a Guest of Honour on day two of the five- day long fiesta “GARDENIA 2007”

Excerpts from the Interview:
Q. How does it feel to come to the GCC campus?
A. (Pleased). It's a double delight to visit this college- to be in Garden City College in the Garden City. This makes me extremely happy.

Q. What is your experience in the hotel industry?
A. It is actually fun! The industry bestows on people a great environment to realize their goals. Aside, hotel management is a booming service industry rendering great services and providing ample job opportunities.

Q. What are the challenges in this profession?
A. I would like to say that managing a hotel is not an easy task. But at the same time, it should be taken as a passion and not as a duty. One should enjoy work. No doubt it has the same routine everyday, but again the work is enjoyable.

Q. In what way is work in the hospitality industrial beneficial?
A. Working in the hotel industry is always a learning process. It requires commitment, and extra efforts in terms of being knowledgeable. People from every part of the country are recruited thus making it a professional industry. Gentility despite the tremendous pressure is another thing.

Q. What do you attribute your to success?
A. I never thought I would be in such an industry. Initially, it was a complete mismatch. I was utterly confused and no aware what outdoor catering meant. But then, having been in the industry, it has given me a great exposure. I don't have an MBA or HR degree. All I have is a strong operational background. I had to climb up the ladder with the roots strongly held. Added to this is the dedication and attitude towards everything.

Q. What can you say on GARDENIA?
A. Oh yes! It is a great event, very well organized with lots of freedom given to the students to showcase their talents. Proper planning has helped in adding lot of value and that brings confidence. An exposure to the students brings fame and recognition.

Q. Advice to Gardenians?
A. Believe in yourself. Remain motivated all the time. Self-motivation is a better thing as it drives you loaded. Follow all this and you will be a winner.

Q. Your secret of life?
A. Basically I believe in myself. But Shivkera's quote- “Winners don't do different things but they do things differently”, has always inspired me. It also helped create my own identity
