The clock struck 11:25 and the students gathered in the auditorium to mark the first Anniversary of GCC
Roll for Soul. Just a year and the dance academy had enough to blow their trumpet about. Their achievements
and mind blowing performances in and outside the borders of the state were the reasons. What made the
audience sit back patiently and wait for the upcoming performances? That will remain a question if you haven't seen them perform! When the stage was unveiled and the announcement - GCC Roll for Soul -made, one could hear echoes of the round of applause. The very first performance was from the film Guru, 'Tere bina'. With lights and candles as props, it was very graceful performance. This was followed by a Salsa performance, 'Bin tere kya hai jeena' and 'Balle Balle'. There was also a breathtaking performance, 'Chamma chamma' that had well designed costumes and amazing body movements. 'Chika pika railu' was another rocking performance. Enriques 'Rhythm Divine' also won good appreciation. Lastly, 'Salamen-ishq', 'Jhoom
barabar Jhoom' and 'Rang de Basanti' wrapped up their performances. And then a performance that literally
brought shivers down the spine, your rite! Yes, that's none other than Bishesh's performance. He drove
everyone crazy dancing to 'Mehbooba'.
The Management trainees came up with the documentary, a film tracing the life of a Management student and how the college influences him to reach his dream.
To conclude, the names of the dancers at the academy were announced and congratulated for their successful journey. The academy that began with just one course today comprises of 18 courses with 300 students actively participating. The certificates were distributed by the Chairman. Saplings were planting of saplings by NSS volunteers at GCC lagoon was another programme that was observed on the Independence Day.
GCC World team spoke to the man behind the success of the dance academy, Mr Jigar. When asked about his journey through the year, he exclaimed: “It has been very exciting one with a few obstacles in between but then due to students support and cooperation, everything has been good so far. Last year, we were striving to be known, but today we have made a stand. There are new courses that have been introduced such as folk dances, film, western, aerobics, salsa and ball room waltz. We are coming up with, Latin American dances -Tango, Samba, Jive, Cha Cha Cha and Rock and Roll.”
Prit of 3rd Semester Genetics, Neha of 3rd Semester Biotech, Tushar, 3rd Semester BCA and Darpan, 3rd Semester Biotech, who are a part of the Roll for Soul Academy share their dance teacher's views: “It's a great fun being here and we feel like one big family. The response is good and exposure has paved way to develop our skills and learn a lot.”
