Chak de India is a story about a coach's struggles in making a hockey team.

Kabir khan (Shah Rukh Khan) is the captain of Men's Hockey Team. Playing for India on a world Cup
tournament in the final match against perennial rivals, Pakistan he missed to score resulting in the victory the Pakistan team. After, match got over, Kabir is seen talking and shaking hands with Pakistani players. Seizing the opportunity, a journalist takes his photos and makes everyone question his commitment to the team. Thus, everyone blames him claiming he lost the match purposely. That changes his whole life and he leaves his house together his mother.

As soon as he departs, a problem arises. Who will coach the women's hockey team? India being a patriarchal country and women are not given due attention, when it comes to events like hockey. So Kabir is assigned the task of coaching the Indian women's hockey team. Coming back to team was not his aim but then he wants to remove all the black clouds hanging over his head.

Girls from across the country register to play for the hockey team. The challenge which Kabir has taken upon himself to give India the World Cup is a tough one. But with his determination and indomitable spirit, he starts training the girls. Unfortunately, the girls find it hard to cope up with the training and decide to change the coach. Soon they realize they were wrong and Kabir is reinstated.

The hard part of the training starts and he makes all the players train like men. A team that had nothing slowly begins to take shape. But just at the team peaks up, the Board Officials decide not to send the team for the World Cup in Australia. A match with the men's hockey team is fixed and despite losing to the men, their performance is credible. The Board decides to send them to Australia.

Although the team loses the first match, it goes on to win the finals. If we look like this it is like same story, at last India has to win.

But his movie is much more different than usual Bollywood movie. It shows all the conflicts between players. There was a player called Priti whose fiancé is the vice – captain of the Indian cricket team. Instead of giving her encouragement, he insists they get married instead of going to Australia since he believes they are going to lose anyway. These are some to the difficulties women go through. Apart, from all, it is a story about honesty, sincerity and integrity. Under the guidance of Kabir, the girls won the World Cup for India.

At last, we have a very good sports movie. Shah Rukh Khan has done a commendable work. He has changed his image completely from romantic hero to a hard working coach. At last Yash Raj productions have given us a super hit after two previous flops. This is a definite must watch movie.
